Day 17 Lash Aftercare Checklist in Batumi

October 2, 2026 · 12 min

Day 17 is a useful checkpoint for lash extensions. You are usually well past the first 48 hours, your lashes have been through showers, sleep, skincare, perhaps Batumi humidity or a beach day, and natural lashes have continued their normal shedding cycle. A few grown-out or missing extensions at this stage are completely expected. The goal is not to make a two-week-old set look brand new; it is to keep the remaining extensions clean, neatly separated, and comfortable until your next fill.

I created this Day 17 lash aftercare checklist for my clients in Batumi, including visitors on holiday, expats, and women balancing beach plans with a busy schedule. A small daily routine makes a bigger difference than trying to fix everything the day before your appointment.

What your lashes should look like on Day 17

At around 17 days after a full set or fill, you may notice spaces where natural lashes have shed, a softer overall density, and a few extensions sitting farther away from the lash line. That is because the natural lash grows, while the extension remains attached to it. It is not a sign that you have done something wrong.

What I want you to check is comfort and cleanliness. Your lash line should feel light, not itchy, sticky, or tangled. Extensions should not be crossing over each other in noticeable clusters. If you see one extension that has grown far out and turns downward or sideways, do not pull it off. I can safely remove and replace grown-out extensions during a fill.

Your quick Day 17 mirror check

  • Look along both lash lines in good natural light.
  • Check for makeup, sunscreen, or skincare residue near the roots.
  • Brush dry lashes gently from underneath toward the tips.
  • Notice any extensions that are twisted, stuck together, or growing out.
  • Count the days until your next planned fill.

If your lashes are clean and comfortable but less full, that is usually simply fill time approaching. If you are unsure which look you have, you can compare lash extension styles and volumes before deciding whether to refresh your usual set or choose a different effect.

The Day 17 daily cleansing routine

Clean lashes retain better than lashes coated in oil, sweat, foundation, and dust. This is especially important in Batumi during warm, humid weather, when sunscreen and perspiration can reach the eye area more easily. Cleansing does not weaken properly cured adhesive; rough rubbing and unsuitable products are the real problems.

Morning routine

  1. Wash your face as usual, keeping heavy creams and oils away from the lash roots.
  2. Use a lash-safe, oil-free cleanser or foam around the eyelids and extensions.
  3. Rinse carefully with lukewarm water.
  4. Pat the area dry with a clean, lint-free towel. Do not press or rub the lashes.
  5. When fully dry, brush with a clean spoolie from the middle of the lashes toward the tips.

Evening routine

Remove eye makeup before cleansing the lashes. Choose oil-free makeup remover and avoid cotton pads that leave fibres caught in the extensions. Clean along the lash line with soft, controlled movements using a lash brush or a clean soft brush. Rinse, blot dry, and brush only after the extensions are dry.

For a more detailed product and technique guide, see my eyelash extension aftercare guide. The important part is consistency: one gentle cleanse every day is better than occasional intense scrubbing.

Batumi weather, sea air, and summer plans

Batumi is wonderful for long walks by the Black Sea, beach weekends, and warm evenings, but humidity can make the eye area feel damp faster. Sea air itself does not ruin extensions. The practical issue is saltwater, sunscreen, sand, and sweat collecting around the lash line. After the beach, rinse your face and lashes with fresh water, then cleanse when you are back at your accommodation.

If you swim in the sea or a pool, avoid rubbing wet lashes with a towel. Let water run over them, gently blot around the eyes, and brush only after they are completely dry. Chlorinated pool water, saltwater, and hot weather are all good reasons to be extra consistent with cleansing.

Sauna, steam room, and hot showers

By Day 17, the adhesive is long cured, so an occasional warm shower is not a problem. However, repeated high heat and heavy steam may affect the feel and longevity of any lash set over time. If sauna visits are part of your regular routine, keep them moderate, avoid pressing your face into a towel afterward, and cleanse away sweat once you cool down.

For tourists, I recommend planning your lash appointment around major beach, pool, or spa days when possible. It is easier to enjoy your holiday when your fill is booked at a convenient point in the itinerary rather than squeezed in immediately before a long travel day.

Products that help and products to avoid

You do not need a drawer full of lash products. A good lash-safe cleanser, clean spoolies, and an oil-free remover are enough for most people. If you wear makeup, choose formulas that rinse away easily rather than waterproof products that require vigorous removal.

Usually lash-friendlyUse carefully or avoid near roots
Oil-free lash cleanserOil-based cleansers and balms
Water-based eye makeup removerWaterproof mascara
Clean disposable spoolieMechanical eyelash curlers
Lightweight oil-free skincareHeavy eye creams directly at lash line
Gentle rinsing and blottingRubbing with towels or cotton pads

Mascara is usually unnecessary with extensions, especially with 2D, 3D, or fuller volume sets. If you do use it, apply only a small amount to the tips and choose a product that is easy to remove. Never use a lash curler on extensions: it can bend both the extension and your natural lashes.

If you are considering a new set or changing your volume at the next appointment, you can view current lash extension prices and choose a service that fits your desired maintenance routine.

Common Day 17 mistakes I see

The most common mistake is trying to make a grown-out set look fuller by picking at gaps. Pulling an extension can pull a natural lash before it is ready to shed, so please leave loose-looking lashes alone. Another frequent issue is skipping cleansing because the client worries about losing extensions. In reality, buildup can make lashes stick together and look less fluffy.

Sleeping face-down can also bend extensions, especially on one side. You do not need to sleep perfectly still, but a smooth pillowcase and a little awareness can help. If one eye always looks less full, your sleeping side may be part of the reason.

Finally, do not attempt at-home removal with oils, tweezers, or adhesive remover. If you want a break from extensions, ask me to remove them professionally. It is kinder to your natural lashes and much more comfortable.

When should you book a fill?

For many clients, a fill works best every two to three weeks. Your ideal timing depends on your natural lash cycle, the chosen volume, home care, travel, and how full you like your lashes to look. Classic sets can show gaps sooner because each natural lash carries one extension, while a volume set may still appear fuller as lashes shed.

Day 17 is a good moment to book if you have not already. In Batumi, appointments can be especially useful to arrange ahead during summer and holiday periods, when tourists and regular clients are both planning around travel. Booking early gives you more choice of times without waiting until the set feels too sparse.

Use a fill appointment for more than adding lashes: I check attachment, remove grown-out extensions safely, clean the lash line, and rebalance the styling. If you have lost more than roughly half of the extensions, a new set may be more suitable than a fill. Send me a clear front-facing photo in daylight on WhatsApp if you are unsure.

A simple Day 17 checklist

  • Clean extensions gently every day.
  • Brush only when lashes are dry.
  • Keep oils, rich creams, and waterproof makeup away from the roots.
  • Rinse and cleanse after a beach or pool day.
  • Do not pick, pull, or use a lash curler.
  • Check for grown-out lashes without trying to remove them yourself.
  • Book your two- to three-week fill before your preferred time disappears.

Conclusion

At Day 17, a little shedding and grow-out are normal. Cleanliness, gentle handling, and timely fills are what keep your extensions looking polished between appointments, whether you are living in Batumi or enjoying a short stay by the sea. FAQs

- Is it normal to have gaps in my lashes on Day 17?

Yes. Natural lashes shed continuously, so a few gaps and grown-out extensions are expected after more than two weeks. A fill is usually the best solution rather than trying to remove or replace anything at home.

- Can I swim in the Black Sea with lash extensions?

Yes, once your initial aftercare period has passed. After swimming, rinse your lashes with fresh water, avoid rubbing them with a towel, and cleanse away saltwater, sunscreen, and sweat later that day.

- Does washing lash extensions make them fall out faster?

No. Gentle daily cleansing with a suitable oil-free lash cleanser helps remove buildup. Pulling, rubbing, and using oily products around the roots are more likely to affect how the set looks.

- Should I wait until most extensions are gone before booking a fill?

No. It is better to book while enough extensions remain for me to assess the shape and work efficiently. For many clients, two to three weeks is a practical fill schedule.
