Day 3 Lash Aftercare Checklist in Batumi | Olga Grin

September 28, 2026 · 12 min

Day 3 is a useful point to reset your lash routine. Your extensions should now feel comfortable, look neat, and be ready for normal daily life - but Batumi life can include humid walks, sea air, hotel pools, gym sessions, and spontaneous beach plans. I made this Day 3 lash aftercare checklist for my clients who live here, visit for a few days, or are settling into a temporary routine between fills.

The goal is not to make lashes feel fragile. Good extensions are made to be worn. My job is to create a suitable set, and your job is to keep the lash line clean, avoid unnecessary pulling, and book your refill before the set becomes too grown out. Here is exactly what I recommend checking on day three and every day after.

Why day 3 matters for lash extensions

By the third day, most clients have returned to their usual schedule: skincare, makeup, work, workouts, sightseeing, or the beach. It is also when small habits begin to affect how tidy the set looks. Oil, sunscreen, makeup, dust, sweat, and natural skin oils can collect around the lash line. If they stay there, lashes may look less fluffy and can become harder to brush.

Batumi’s coastal humidity can make the eye area feel warmer or oilier, especially from late spring through early autumn. This does not mean you need to avoid the city, the sea, or summer holidays. It simply means gentle, consistent cleansing matters even more. The best aftercare is not complicated - it is a realistic routine you can keep while enjoying your trip or daily life.

Your Day 3 lash aftercare checklist

Use this quick checklist in the morning or evening. It takes only a few minutes.

  • Look at both eyes in a mirror for tangles, makeup buildup, or lashes turning in different directions.
  • Clean the lash line with a lash-safe, oil-free cleanser or lash shampoo.
  • Rinse carefully with clean water if the product instructions require it.
  • Pat the eye area dry with a soft, lint-free towel or let it air dry briefly.
  • Brush only fully dry extensions with a clean spoolie.
  • Do not pull on one loose extension or try to remove it yourself.
  • Check your next fill date, especially if you are leaving Batumi soon.

If your extensions look slightly less perfectly uniform than on appointment day, that is normal. Natural lashes shed as part of their regular cycle, and an extension attached to a naturally shed lash will leave with it. What matters is that your remaining lashes stay clean, comfortable, and well separated.

Clean your lash line properly, not cautiously

One of the most common mistakes I see is avoiding water completely because a client is afraid of losing extensions. After the initial care period I recommend for your specific appointment, clean lashes are better than lashes coated in makeup, skin oil, or sunscreen. A dirty lash line can make fans close together and leave the set looking uneven.

A simple cleansing routine

  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Apply a small amount of oil-free lash cleanser to a soft lash brush or clean fingertips.
  3. With your eyes closed, gently work the cleanser through the lash line using light downward motions.
  4. Rinse with clean water without aggressively rubbing the eye area.
  5. Pat dry, then brush the extensions once they are dry.

Avoid cotton pads that leave fibres behind, heavy cleansing balms around the lashes, and waterproof mascara. If you wear eye makeup, remove it patiently with an oil-free product before cleansing. You can find more day-to-day details in my complete eyelash extension care guide.

Sea, pool, and summer humidity in Batumi

Many clients ask me whether they can swim with lash extensions. Once you have followed the initial water-contact instructions given after your appointment, normal swimming is usually part of life with extensions. The key is what you do afterwards. Sea salt, pool water, sunscreen, and sweat can sit at the lash line, so rinse the eye area with fresh water when practical and cleanse your lashes that evening.

At the beach, do not rub your eyes with a sandy towel or press your face into a sunbed cushion. Wear sunglasses for comfort and to reduce wind directly hitting the eyes. If you use facial sunscreen, apply it carefully around - not through - the lash line. A light, non-oily formula is often easier to manage around extensions than a rich balm or face oil.

What to do after swimming

  • Gently rinse the lashes with fresh water.
  • Let them dry naturally or pat around the eyes without pressing on the extensions.
  • Brush them when fully dry.
  • Cleanse in the evening if you have been in the sea, pool, or a very sweaty environment.

Do not panic if wet lashes look thinner or more separated. Extensions often look darker and more grouped when wet. Their shape becomes clearer again once dry and brushed.

Sauna, steam, workouts, and hot showers

Heat and steam are not a reason to stop enjoying your routine, but repeated intense exposure can make extensions harder to keep perfectly groomed. Steam rooms, very hot showers, and frequent sauna sessions may affect how a set wears over time, especially if you also touch or wipe your eyes afterwards. If you love sauna days, keep your face away from direct steam when possible and clean the lash line afterwards.

For gym clients, sweat itself is not a disaster. The important part is not leaving sweat, makeup, and skincare around your eyes overnight. After a workout, rinse or cleanse as needed, dry gently, and brush the lashes. Never use the gym towel to scrub your face.

Products that work better with extensions

You do not need to replace your entire cosmetics bag. I recommend paying attention to what comes into direct contact with your lash line. Oil-rich products can make cleaning more difficult and may affect the look and wear of extensions. Thick eye creams are useful for some people, but they should be applied carefully and kept below the lash line.

If you are unsure about a new product, bring it to your next appointment or send me a clear photo on WhatsApp. I can tell you whether it is sensible to use around extensions. Different styling choices also need different expectations: a classic set and a fuller volume set can look different as natural lashes shed. You can compare lash extension styles and effects before your next set.

Five habits that shorten the tidy look of a set

1. Sleeping face-down

Pressure from a pillow can bend extensions and make one side look less neat. If you naturally sleep on your stomach, try a smooth pillowcase and avoid pressing your eyes into the pillow.

2. Picking at one loose lash

A loose extension can be tempting, but pulling it may pull on the natural lash too. Leave it alone or ask me at your refill. Never cut extensions at home.

3. Brushing wet lashes

Wet extensions are more likely to clump temporarily. Let them dry first, then use a clean spoolie with a light touch.

4. Waiting too long for a fill

As your natural lashes grow, the extensions grow away from the lash line. A fill appointment is not only about adding fullness; it is also the time to remove grown-out extensions safely and rebalance the set.

5. Applying strip lashes over extensions

Strip-lash glue, removal products, and extra weight can create a messy lash line. If you want a fuller result for an event, it is better to discuss a suitable volume option at your appointment.

When should you book a refill?

Most clients choose a refill around every two to three weeks, depending on their natural shedding, styling, cleansing routine, and travel plans. There is no honest one-date rule for everyone. A fuller set may still need maintenance when it looks presentable because grown-out lashes need professional attention.

If you are visiting Batumi, send a message before your trip rather than waiting until the last day. Appointment times can fill up in summer and around weekends. You can review current lash extension prices and choose a service that suits your plans. For a refill, arriving with clean lashes and no eye makeup helps me use your appointment time well.

When to contact your lash artist

Contact your lash artist if your lashes are suddenly twisting, feel uncomfortable, or if you have questions about cleaning after a specific activity. A photo in good daylight is often helpful. Do not attempt a home removal with oils, tweezers, or adhesive removers not intended for professional use.

If you experience ongoing eye discomfort, marked redness, swelling, or changes in vision, stop using eye cosmetics and seek advice from an appropriate medical professional. Lash aftercare is cosmetic care, and health concerns deserve proper attention.

Conclusion

My Day 3 rule is simple: clean gently, dry fully, brush softly, and do not pull. With this routine, you can enjoy Batumi beach days, coffee walks, work meetings, and holiday photos without treating your extensions like they are untouchable. Consistency is much more useful than complicated tricks.

FAQs

- Can I wash my lash extensions on day 3?

Yes, after following the initial aftercare instructions given for your appointment, gentle cleansing is an important part of keeping extensions neat. Use an oil-free lash cleanser, rinse carefully, dry, and brush only when the lashes are fully dry.

- Can I swim in the Black Sea with lash extensions?

After your initial care period, you can enjoy swimming. Rinse your eye area with fresh water afterwards when possible, avoid rubbing with a towel, and cleanse your lashes in the evening to remove salt, sunscreen, and skin oil.

- Why do my extensions look thinner after three days?

Wet lashes, sleep position, brushing habits, and normal natural lash shedding can all change the appearance of a set. Clean and dry the lashes, brush them gently, and check again in daylight. If something looks unusual or feels uncomfortable, send your lash artist a photo.

- Do I need special mascara with lash extensions?

Most clients do not need mascara with extensions. Waterproof mascara is best avoided because it is difficult to remove without rubbing. If you want extra definition, ask your lash artist about a styling option that gives more visible density.

- How often should I book a lash fill in Batumi?

Many clients book every two to three weeks, but your ideal timing depends on your natural lash cycle, chosen volume, and routine. Book earlier if you are travelling, have a special event, or notice the set has become noticeably sparse.
