Lash Care & Maintenance

Day 7 Lash Aftercare Checklist in Batumi | Olga Grin

September 29, 2026 · 12 min

One week after your lash appointment is a useful moment to check in with your extensions. The first days are behind you, your normal routine has returned, and small habits now make the biggest difference to how tidy your set looks before the next fill. In Batumi, this matters even more in warm, humid weather, after beach walks, pool time, sightseeing, or a long day in air-conditioned cafés.

I created this day 7 lash aftercare checklist for my clients, visitors, expats, and digital nomads who want to keep their extensions clean without overthinking every step. You do not need a complicated routine. You need gentle cleansing, careful brushing, and a realistic plan for your next appointment.

Why day 7 is an important lash check-in

At day 7, a few natural lash sheds are completely normal. Extensions are attached to your natural lashes, and natural lashes move through their own growth cycle. What I want you to notice is the overall appearance: are the lashes clean, separated, comfortable, and still sitting in the right direction?

Batumi’s coastal climate can make lashes feel less fresh more quickly. Humidity, sunscreen, face cream, sea spray, sweat, and city dust can collect along the lash line. This does not mean you need to wash your lashes aggressively. It means a consistent, gentle clean is essential.

Your day 7 lash aftercare checklist

Set aside two or three calm minutes, ideally in the morning or before bed. Good lighting helps, but there is no need to pull at your eyelids or inspect every single lash.

  1. Wash your hands. Your fingertips should be clean before they come near your eye area.

  2. Look in the mirror. Check for obvious makeup residue, sunscreen buildup, lashes crossing over each other, or one fan that has turned noticeably.

  3. Clean the lash line. Use a lash-safe, oil-free cleanser or foam recommended for extensions. Apply it gently around the lash line with a soft cleansing brush or clean fingertips.

  4. Rinse thoroughly. Use clean lukewarm water. Leaving cleanser, makeup, or salt residue behind is not helpful.

  5. Dry without rubbing. Pat the eye area with a lint-free towel or let the lashes air-dry. Do not press a towel into the extensions.

  6. Brush only when dry. Use a clean spoolie and brush from underneath upward with a very light touch.

  7. Plan your fill. If you can already see larger gaps or your set is becoming sparse, book before your schedule gets busy.

Clean lashes are not optional

The most common day 7 issue I see is not “bad glue” or “wrong lashes.” It is buildup. Foundation, concealer, powder, mascara residue, skincare, and natural skin oils can collect where the extensions meet the natural lashes. In summer, sunscreen and perspiration add another layer.

Please do not skip cleansing because you are worried about losing lashes. A suitable cleanser and gentle technique are part of proper retention care. What can cause problems is rubbing, picking, using oily products around the eyes, or cleaning only the skin below the lashes while avoiding the lash line entirely.

How I recommend cleaning extensions

Choose an oil-free lash cleanser or a product specifically marked as suitable for eyelash extensions. Close one eye, work with light movements at the lash line, rinse well, and repeat on the other side. If you wear eye makeup, remove it carefully before your lash wash rather than trying to scrub everything off in one step.

Avoid waterproof mascara on extensions. It is difficult to remove gently and can leave residue. In most cases, you do not need mascara at all. If you like a very natural style and want to understand which set may suit you, compare classic lash extensions with fuller volume options before your next appointment.

Batumi sea, pool, and summer routine

Batumi is made for spontaneous plans: a morning coffee by the boulevard, a beach afternoon, a hotel pool, or dinner after a humid walk through the city. You can still enjoy all of it with lash extensions. The key is what you do afterwards.

After the sea

Saltwater can leave a drying, slightly sticky feeling around the eyes. After swimming, rinse your face and lashes with fresh water as soon as it is convenient, then cleanse properly when you are back at your hotel or apartment. Do not rub your eyes with a beach towel, even if sea water has splashed your face.

After a pool

Pool water, sunscreen, and heat can leave residue. Rinse after swimming, dry gently, and brush your lashes only once they are fully dry. Goggles are fine if they are comfortable, but make sure they are not pressing directly into the extensions.

Sauna and hot weather

Very high heat and steam are not ideal immediately after a new appointment, so follow the timing instructions I gave you on appointment day. At day 7, an occasional sauna visit is usually less of a concern than rough handling, but prolonged heat, steam, and frequent rubbing are still not the best combination for a polished set. If you know you will have a spa-heavy holiday, tell me before your appointment so I can help you choose a practical style.

Five mistakes that shorten the neat look of a set

  • Sleeping face-down. Pillow friction can bend extensions and make one side look less even. A silk or satin pillowcase may reduce friction, but it does not replace careful sleep positioning.

  • Picking at loose extensions. Never pull an extension that looks ready to shed. It may still be attached to a natural lash.

  • Using an eyelash curler. Extensions are already styled with a curl. A mechanical curler can damage their shape.

  • Applying oily eye products too close to the lash line. Eye creams, balms, and makeup removers can travel into the lashes, so apply them carefully and keep the lash line clean.

  • Waiting too long for a fill. Trying to stretch a fill far beyond the point where the set looks balanced often leads to more noticeable gaps and a longer appointment later.

Brush gently, not constantly

A clean spoolie is a useful tool, but it is not a styling wand to use all day. Brush your extensions after cleansing and drying, or when you see a few lashes sitting out of place. Start under the tips and move upward lightly. Do not push the spoolie into the lash line and do not brush side to side.

If several lashes are twisting, sticking together, or feeling uncomfortable, do not try to separate them with tweezers at home. A professional can assess whether a small adjustment or a fill is needed. For common appointment questions, my lash extension FAQ may also help.

How to know when to book your fill

For many clients, a fill is most practical around two to three weeks after the previous appointment. Your personal timing depends on your natural lash cycle, the style you wear, how well you cleanse, travel plans, and how full you like your lashes to look.

Book earlier if you have a wedding, photoshoot, beach holiday, business trip, or a special dinner planned in Batumi. Visitors should especially avoid leaving it until the last day of their trip. Availability can change quickly during summer weekends, holidays, and high tourist season.

At day 7, open your calendar and choose a likely fill window now. You can check my current lash extension prices if you are deciding between a maintenance fill and a new set.

A simple daily routine between fills

TimeWhat to doKeep it simple
MorningCheck and lightly brush dry lashes if needed.Use a clean spoolie only.
After beach, pool, or gymRinse away salt, chlorine, sweat, and sunscreen residue.Never rub with a towel.
EveningClean your lash line and remove makeup gently.Use oil-free, extension-safe products.
Once a weekCheck for buildup, tangling, or an uneven side.Message your artist if something feels wrong.

Consistency is more valuable than buying many products. One suitable cleanser, a clean spoolie, and a gentle routine are enough for most extension wearers.

What to do if something feels unusual

Do not ignore persistent discomfort, marked redness, swelling, or pain around the eyes. Stop using any new product that may be irritating the area and seek appropriate professional medical advice if symptoms are significant or continue. For cosmetic concerns such as twisting lashes, makeup buildup, or an early gap, send your lash artist a clear photo in natural light rather than trying to fix it yourself.

If you are in Batumi temporarily, message before your schedule becomes difficult. A quick photo and your appointment date help me advise whether you likely need a fill, a removal, or simply a better cleaning routine.

Conclusion

Your day 7 checklist is simple: cleanse the lash line, rinse well after sea or pool time, dry gently, brush only when dry, avoid picking, and plan your fill before the set becomes too sparse. These habits help your extensions stay more comfortable and visually tidy through Batumi humidity, travel days, and everyday life.

FAQs

- Should I wash lash extensions every day?

Yes, gentle daily cleansing is a good routine for most clients, especially if you wear makeup, sunscreen, or spend time outdoors in Batumi’s humid weather. Use an oil-free cleanser suitable for extensions and avoid rubbing.

- Can I swim in the Black Sea with lash extensions?

Yes, once you have followed the post-appointment timing instructions from your lash artist. After swimming, rinse your lashes with fresh water and cleanse them when you can to remove salt and sunscreen residue.

- Why do I have a few gaps after one week?

A small amount of shedding can be normal because natural lashes shed on their own cycle. Noticeable early gaps can also happen from rubbing, sleeping pressure, product buildup, or a naturally faster lash cycle.

- Is it true that lash extensions should never get wet?

No. This is a common myth. After the initial aftercare period specified by your lash artist, regular gentle washing is important. The goal is clean lashes, not avoiding water forever.

- When should I schedule my next lash fill?

Many clients book a fill at around two to three weeks, but your ideal timing can vary. If you have an event or are leaving Batumi soon, book ahead so your preferred time is available.
