If you love running along Batumi Boulevard or up to the Alphabet Tower, your lashes can love it too - when you care for them the right way. I’m a lash artist in Batumi, and this is the routine I teach clients who run in our humid, seaside air. Follow these steps and you’ll keep your extensions clean, soft, and holding their curl - even in peak summer.
What your lashes face on a Batumi run
Batumi’s climate is beautiful but busy for lash extensions: high humidity from the Black Sea, warm wind along the boulevard, salty air, and sweat. None of these are dangerous for properly applied lashes, but together they leave salt, oils, and dust on the extensions. If they sit there for hours, the build‑up can make fans collapse, feel prickly, and reduce retention. The trick is fast, gentle cleaning and correct drying - every time you train.
Before your run: simple prep that protects retention
A little prep prevents most post-run problems. Here’s what I recommend before you lace up:
- Start clean: In the morning, rinse lashes with cool water and use a pea-sized amount of lash-safe foaming cleanser. Rinse well and air-dry or use a cool fan.
- Brush when dry: Gently fluff with a clean spoolie once completely dry. Never brush wet.
- Keep oils away from the lash line: If you use SPF, choose an oil-free gel or mineral sunscreen and apply it on the face and brow bone - avoid the lash line and lids.
- Add a sweat barrier: A soft sports headband or cap helps keep perspiration from streaming into your eyes and lashes.
- Optional sealant: A thin layer of lash sealant (water-resistant topcoat made for extensions) once a day can help repel sweat and salt. Apply lightly and avoid clumping.
- Pack a tiny gym kit: Travel lash cleanser, small bottle of water, clean spoolie, soft lint-free towel or paper tissues, and a mini handheld fan.
If your set is brand new, ask your artist how long to avoid heavy sweating. With my adhesive and finishing routine, my clients can safely sweat after about 4 hours. If you’re unsure, message me first and choose an easy walk instead of a tempo run on day one.
Morning vs. evening runs on the Boulevard
Mornings in Batumi are usually cooler with lighter wind - great for lash comfort. Evenings can be more humid, and there’s often a salty breeze by the sea. Both are fine; just plan to rinse and cleanse right after you finish, not later in the night.

Right after your run: clean-up in 5 minutes
Don’t let sweat dry on your lash line. A fast rinse and proper cleanse keeps the bond happy and fans fluffy.
- Rinse within 30 minutes: Use cool to lukewarm water to dissolve sweat and salt. If you’re still on the Boulevard, a water bottle works for a quick splash until you reach a sink.
- Cleanse gently: Use a lash-formulated foaming cleanser. Pump a pea-sized amount onto your fingertips or a lash brush. With eyes closed, swirl along the lash line and through the lengths. No rubbing or side-to-side scrubbing.
- Rinse thoroughly: Let water run over your lids until all foam is gone. Residue can make lashes feel stiff.
- Blot, don’t rub: Pat around the eyes with a soft towel or paper tissue. Avoid catching fans in fabric loops.
- Dry with cool air: Use a handheld fan or your hair dryer on cool, low speed. Point upward so air lifts the lashes. Once fully dry, fluff with a clean spoolie.
That’s it. Quick, gentle, consistent. It makes a visible difference in softness and retention after a few sweaty sessions.
If you jump in the Black Sea or a pool after running
Many runners cool down with a swim. Salt and chlorine are fine short-term, but they must be rinsed away fast.
- Wear goggles if you actually swim laps. Less turbulence = less tangling.
- After you get out, shower promptly. Rinse eyes thoroughly with fresh water. Then follow the same cleanse–rinse–dry steps.
- Don’t brush wet lashes. Let them dry first, then reshape with a spoolie.
- Regular swimmers may benefit from a daily sealant. Keep application light to avoid buildup.
Drying and reshaping: what’s safe, what’s not
Proper drying is the most underrated lash skill for active girls:
- Use cool air only. Heat softens curl and can warp fans.
- Aim airflow upward. This lifts lashes into their intended curl.
- Brush only when dry. Brushing wet can twist bases and cause premature loosening.
- If a few fans clump, re-wet, pat, and re-dry with cool air before brushing. Don’t pick at bonds.
- Avoid steam right after runs. Saunas and very hot showers add humidity stress when your lashes are already saturated.
Products that work in Batumi’s climate
I’m not tied to any brand, but I do look for a few features because of our coastal humidity:
- Lash cleanser: Water-based, oil-free, and made for extensions. Foams rinse cleaner than gels in humid weather.
- Handheld fan: A tiny rechargeable fan is perfect for quick post-run drying on the promenade or at the gym.
- Sports headband or visor: Keeps sweat from rolling into your lash line.
- Oil-free SPF: Gel or mineral textures stay put better around the eye area in heat.
- Microfiber or very soft towel: For blotting, not rubbing. Paper tissues also work well.
- Clean spoolies: Replace often. A fresh brush matters more than a fancy one.
Common mistakes I see after workouts
- Waiting hours to cleanse. Salt dries into tiny crystals that can scratch and stiffen fans.
- Using makeup wipes or micellar pads on the eye area. Many contain oils or film-formers that weaken the bond.
- Scrubbing with cotton pads. Lint tangles and pulls on extensions.
- Brushing wet lashes. It feels satisfying in the moment and costs you fans later.
- Waterproof mascara on extensions. It glues everything together and is nearly impossible to remove without damage.
- Hot blow-dry. Heat changes curl memory and can make fans look frizzy.
Refill timing when you run often
Active routines are completely compatible with great retention - if you clean consistently. Most of my sporty clients maintain fills every 2–3 weeks. If you train daily, swim often, or are prepping for a race, plan closer to 2 weeks to keep your set photo-ready.
Visitors and digital nomads: if you’re in Batumi short-term, book your fill for the start of your stay and a maintenance clean before you fly. You can check my current lash extension prices and book an appointment in advance. If you have questions about styles for an athletic lifestyle, my FAQ page might help, or just message me directly.
For runners, I usually suggest a slightly shorter length with a balanced curl for better day-to-day resilience. Volume sets look amazing on the Boulevard selfies, but they do trap more sweat and need extra-thorough rinsing - totally fine if you’re disciplined with the after-run cleanse.
Conclusion
Running in Batumi doesn’t have to cost you lashes. Prep lightly, rinse and cleanse right after your workout, dry with cool air, and brush only when fully dry. That’s the whole secret. FAQs
- Can I go for a run the same day I get new lash extensions?
If I did your set, light activity is fine and you can safely sweat after about 4 hours. If your artist uses a slower-curing adhesive, wait longer. When in doubt, ask before you train.
- Is sweat bad for the lash glue?
Sweat itself isn’t the enemy; leaving it to dry on the lash line is. Rinse and cleanse within 30 minutes, then dry with cool air and you’ll be fine.
- Can I use micellar water to clean my lashes after a run?
I don’t recommend it. Many micellars leave a film or contain oils. Use a lash-formulated foaming cleanser plus plenty of water.
- What if my lashes look clumpy after a windy, sweaty run?
Re-wet them, pat gently, then use cool airflow to fully dry. Once dry, brush with a clean spoolie. Don’t try to separate wet fans with your fingers.
- Do I need special gym products for my lashes?
Not really - just a proper lash cleanser, a soft towel, a clean spoolie, and a mini fan. A headband or visor helps keep sweat off the lash line.
