L+ Curl Lashes: Who They Suit in Batumi

October 2, 2026 · 12 min

L+ curl lashes are one of my favourite options when a client wants a visible lifting effect without an overly round, doll-like curl. They can be especially flattering for straight natural lashes, hooded lids, and certain Asian eye shapes. But L+ is not a universal “best curl” - the right result depends on your natural lash direction, eyelid space, eye shape, desired style, and everyday routine in Batumi.

As a lash artist, I never choose a curl only because it is trending on Pinterest. I look at how your lashes grow and what will still look balanced when you leave my studio, walk along Batumi Boulevard in the sea air, or wear sunglasses on a sunny holiday afternoon. Here is my honest guide to L+ curl extensions and whether they may suit you.

What is an L+ curl lash?

An L+ curl has a fairly straight base followed by a clear, lifted bend. It sits between a classic L curl and a more curved option such as M or C, depending on the brand. The base gives me useful attachment space on straight natural lashes, while the raised tip creates a bright, open-eye effect.

Think of it this way: C curl looks softly rounded, D curl is more dramatic and circular, while L+ has a straighter beginning and a defined lift near the tip. It can create an eyeliner-like visual line at the lash base, then lift the outer and central lashes upward.

There is no single universal curl chart across every lash brand. One supplier’s L+ can look slightly different from another’s. That is why I assess the actual trays I work with and choose a curl based on your eyes, rather than promising a result based on a letter alone.

Who usually suits L+ curl lashes?

L+ curl is often a beautiful choice for clients whose natural lashes point forward or downward. With these lashes, a rounded curl can sometimes disappear behind the lid or create less visible lift than expected. The straighter base of L+ gives stable placement, while the lifted tip remains visible.

Clients with straight or downward-growing natural lashes

If your lashes grow nearly straight ahead, L+ can make the eyes look more awake without forcing an excessively dramatic curl. It is not about making every lash stand vertically; it is about creating a neat, lifted line that works with your natural growth direction.

Hooded or deep-set eyes

For some hooded eyes, a conventional C curl can be partly hidden when the eye is open. L+ may show more clearly above the lid fold and visually lift the lash line. However, the mapping matters as much as the curl. A very long or very steep curl can touch the upper lid, so I adjust lengths carefully.

Asian eye shapes and low lid space

L+ is frequently requested for Asian eye shapes because many clients have naturally straight lashes and a lower or less visible crease. It can give a clean upward effect while preserving attachment area. Still, eye shape is individual, not a category with one automatic solution. During your appointment, I look at your lid movement, natural lash angle, and whether you prefer a soft or defined finish.

Clients who like a lifted, polished style

If you enjoy the look of eyeliner, lifted outer corners, or a clean editorial lash line, L+ can work well. It is often less “round glam” than D curl and more structured than C curl. This makes it popular for clients who want their extensions to look intentional but not overly fluffy.

When I may not recommend L+ curl

L+ is not always the right answer. If your natural lashes already grow strongly upward, L+ can look too angular or create an attachment angle I do not like. In that case, a C, CC, or soft D curl may blend better and look more harmonious.

I may also choose another curl if you have very prominent eyes, a highly mobile upper lid, or a strong preference for a soft rounded “open doll eye” effect. A sharp lift can sometimes look disconnected from the natural lash line if the wrong lengths or density are used.

Your natural lashes must also be healthy enough for the chosen design. Extensions should be selected for safe weight and appropriate length, not for the biggest possible transformation. I would rather make a thoughtful adjustment than use a dramatic map that does not suit your natural lashes.

L+ curl versus L, M, C and D curls

Comparing curl letters can be confusing, so I explain the visual result rather than treating one curl as better than another.

CurlVisual effectOften suitable for
CSoft, natural rounded liftClients wanting an everyday classic finish
DNoticeable round curl and glam opennessClients with space under the brow and upward lashes
LVery straight base with an angular liftVery straight lashes and specific lifted maps
L+Straight base with a smoother raised tipStraight or downward lashes, hooded lids, lifted styles
MStrong curved lift with a long visible peakClients wanting a pronounced lifting effect

In practice, I can also combine curls. For example, an L+ curl through the central area and a softer curl near the inner corners may look more seamless. This is one reason a custom set usually looks better than choosing a single letter for every lash.

Which volume works with L+ curl?

L+ curl can be used in several extension styles. The right volume depends on your natural lash quantity, your preferred makeup level, and whether you want texture or a clean line.

Classic 1:1 with L+ curl

A classic set places one extension on one natural lash. With L+, it can look crisp, defined, and very wearable for work, travel, or a first extension experience. It is a good choice when you already have a reasonable number of natural lashes and want elegant enhancement rather than density. You can see my classic lash extension option for this lighter style.

2D and 3D with L+ curl

A 2D set uses small handmade fans to add more density than classic lashes while remaining relatively soft. A 3D set is fuller and more visible in photos, especially for clients who wear makeup or want a holiday-ready look. L+ can give both styles an attractive lifted structure, but fan width and length must stay controlled so the set does not look heavy.

For a refined everyday volume, explore 2D lash extensions. If you prefer more density and definition, my 3D lash extension service may be a better match.

Mega volume and hybrid styles

Mega volume is for clients who specifically want a dense, dramatic lash line. L+ can be used in selected maps, but not every mega set needs a strong angular curl. Hybrid styles combine classic-style spikes or individual extensions with volume fans, creating texture and a less uniform finish.

For first-time clients, I usually recommend starting with classic, 2D, or a soft 3D result rather than jumping immediately to mega volume. You can always choose more density at a future appointment once you know how extensions feel and look on you.

L+ curl mapping: length matters as much as curl

A beautiful L+ set is not simply the same curl and length across the whole eye. Mapping means planning the placement of lengths, curls, density, and direction to support your eye shape.

  • Natural map: gradual lengths with a soft peak around the centre or slightly beyond it.
  • Open-eye map: longer lengths around the iris area to create a brighter, more awake look.
  • Squirrel map: the peak sits before the outer corner, which can lift eyes that visually slope down.
  • Cat-eye map: length builds toward the outer corner. It can look elegant, but I avoid making it too long on downturned or hooded eyes.

With L+ curl, I pay close attention to the inner corners. Very curly or long inner-corner lashes can feel visually harsh and may be uncomfortable with glasses. A softer, shorter choice there usually makes the whole result look more expensive and natural.

Batumi humidity, sea air and your lash retention

Batumi’s coastal humidity, summer heat, beach plans, and frequent sunglasses are real factors in your lash routine. Humidity does not mean you cannot wear extensions; it means good application conditions and practical aftercare matter. I control my work environment and select materials appropriately, while you help the set by avoiding steam, oily products around the lash line, and unnecessary rubbing.

If you are visiting Batumi for only a few days, book your full set early in the trip rather than the day before a beach flight. This gives you time to settle into the feeling of extensions and avoid rushing straight from an appointment into sea swimming, sauna visits, or heavy makeup.

For a longer stay, plan fills according to your natural shedding cycle and the look you want to maintain. I do not promise an exact retention period because skin type, aftercare, sleep position, climate exposure, and natural lash growth differ for every client. You can review current lash extension prices in Batumi before booking.

L+ curl or LED lash lift: how to choose

If you love your own lash density and mainly want an upward bend, an LED lash lift may be a better fit than extensions. A lift works with your natural lashes, while extensions add length, fullness, and the ability to create a custom map.

I usually suggest a lift when a client wants low-maintenance enhancement, has naturally long lashes, or is unsure about wearing extensions for the first time. I suggest L+ extensions when natural lashes point down or forward and the client wants more visible length, density, and styling options. Read about my LED lash lift service if you are deciding between the two.

How I choose your L+ curl set

At the appointment, I consider your natural lashes first, then build the style around your goal. My consultation is simple and practical:

  1. I check the natural lash direction, strength, density, and available attachment area.
  2. I look at your eye shape, lid position, brow space, and outer-corner angle.
  3. I ask whether you prefer natural, defined, wispy, glamorous, or eyeliner-style lashes.
  4. I choose curl, thickness, volume, lengths, and mapping that suit your eyes.
  5. I explain what is realistic, including any changes I recommend for comfort and safe wear.

Bring inspiration photos if you have them, but please do not worry if you do not know the curl letters. It is my job to translate “I want my eyes to look lifted but natural” into a set that works for you.

Conclusion

L+ curl lashes can be an excellent choice for straight or downward-growing natural lashes, hooded lids, and clients who want a clean lifted finish instead of a very rounded curl. The best result comes from matching the curl to your natural lashes and combining it with the right lengths, volume, and mapping.

FAQs

- Is L+ curl stronger than D curl?

Not necessarily. L+ and D create different shapes rather than a simple stronger-versus-weaker scale. D is more rounded, while L+ has a straighter base and a defined upward lift. Which looks more dramatic depends on your natural lash direction and eye shape.

- Are L+ curl lashes good for hooded eyes?

They can be very flattering for hooded eyes because the lifted tip may remain more visible above the lid. However, the map and lengths must be customised. A curl alone cannot solve every eye-shape concern.

- Can I get L+ curl lashes for a natural look?

Yes. A classic or light 2D set in modest lengths can look neat and natural with L+ curl. A natural result is created through correct length, thickness, density, and mapping - not only by choosing a softer curl letter.

- Will sea water make L+ extensions fall out immediately?

No, but frequent swimming, rubbing the eyes, salt residue, heat, and oil-based products can affect the appearance and retention of any extension set. Rinse gently after swimming if needed, cleanse the lash line carefully, and avoid rubbing.

- How do I book an L+ curl appointment in Batumi?

Send me a WhatsApp message with your preferred dates, whether you want classic, 2D, 3D, hybrid, or a consultation, and any inspiration photo you like. This is especially useful during Batumi’s busy summer season.
